On November 21, Wal-Mart announced in Shenzhen that it will open 500 new stores and cloud warehouses in China in the next 5-7 years, including Wal-Mart shopping malls, Sam’s member stores, and Wal-Mart community stores. In addition to opening new stores, 200 existing stores will be upgraded in the next three years.
At the Wal-Mart China Developers Conference, Gu Jianzhang, senior vice president of real estate development at Wal-Mart, announced the above plan. He leads the Real Estate Development Department and promotes the development of Wal-Mart’s various formats in the company according to the company’s strategic development plan. Its responsibilities include market research, real estate development, asset management, storefront and distribution center maintenance.

At the end of October 2019, Wal-Mart China announced the performance of community stores (Hui Xuan Supermarket). In the third quarter of 2019, sales and passenger flow increased by more than 20% compared with the first quarter. Online O sales were strong, and O2O sales in community stores accounted for The ratio has exceeded 30%.
The Wal-Mart Community Store opened its first store in April 2018 and currently has eight stores in Guangdong. The variety of products has been reduced from the initial 8,000 to more than 6,000 kinds of products, and has added river fresh, seafood, and cooked food. The community store has increased the area of ​​the fresh food area by about 25% on the basis of the overall area of ​​600-1000 square meters.
Overall, in the third quarter of Wal-Mart’s global financial report, China’s quarterly performance was strong: net sales growth of 6.3%, comparable growth of 3.7%, which is China’s best sales performance in more than five years. Among them, Sam’s sales reached a double-digit growth, which was derived from fresh food and omni-channel growth, including Wal-Mart’s home and Jingdong home business.
